Sharon Oviatt Obituary

Sharon "Sharry" Ilene Oviatt

1949 ~ 2025

- On March 17, 2025, Sharry was joyously reunited in heaven with her father Kenneth R. Lloyd and great-grandson Jesse D. Christensen. Sharry was born in Murray to Kenneth and Betty where she grew up in Midvale. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1967 and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Utah in 1994. She worked for Intermountain Healthcare for 22 years as an RN and RN case manager, her empathy and compassionate care touched the lives of countless patients.

During her youth Sharry enjoyed spending time with her parents, sister Pat, brother Kenny, grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins that lived near her home. She had "so many memories of just everyday things with my family, being together, learning, growing, and feeling loved".

Sharry is survived by her four children; Jodi Proctor (Jess), Todd Oviatt, Jeremy Oviatt (Marianela), and Jackie Richards (Brandon), who were the love and joy of her life. She was married to Jim Oviatt for 23 years, after her marriage she was able to balance single parenting with nursing school and work. The strength, unconditional and selfless love she showed throughout even the most difficult times will forever be a part of her legacy. She is also survived by eleven beautiful grandchildren; Todd, Cory (Chanelle), Colton (Malory), and Sammy (Jodi and Jess), Irey and Kennedy (Todd), Stephanie and Gabriel (Jeremy and Marianela), Colby, Alyssa, and Taylor (Jackie and Brandon). Grandma loved celebrating the holidays and birthdays with her family, Christmas was by far her favorite. She is also survived by her three precious great-grandchildren, Eleanor (Todd C), Juliette and Sylvie (Cory and Chanelle). Some of her hobbies she enjoyed with her children and grandchildren where; playing cards, board games, sewing, baking, playing the organ and piano, remodeling the house, decorating, and planting her flower gardens. She is also survived by her mother Betty, sister Pat (Dwaine), and brother Kenny (Tammy).

Sharry met many of her friends during her time at the University of Utah and Alta View Hospital where she worked as a nurse. She loved to travel the world with her friends and family, the memories and experiences from those adventures helped carry her later in life as her health diminished. She always expressed her gratitude for the warmth, kindness and support she received from her friends.

Sharry joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when she was eleven and remained faithful throughout her life. Her beliefs guided her actions and relationships, she served as an example to those around her. We are grateful for her neighborhood and assisted living wards, your friendship and support has helped our family through this difficult time.

Sharry was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when she was 44 years old. We want to thank the many caregivers who helped our mom throughout her life. A special thanks to all the staff at Spring Gardens in Draper (assisted living) and Community Nursing Services in West Valley City (hospice and palliative care).

A funeral service will be held on Monday March 24, 2025, beginning at 12:00 noon, at Pinecrest Chapel located at 2080 E Pinecrest Ln, Sandy, Utah 84092. A viewing will be held from 10:00-11:45 am prior. To watch the services live or view recording, please refer to Larkin Mortuary's website.

I worked with Sharry at Alta View Hospital. She was always very caring for her patients. She was helpful and kind. She had such a struggle with the MS but at that time she always pushed through her difficulties. I know she was a good friend to many and she will be missed by both family and friends.

I met Sharry at Spring Gardens in Draper while living there. She constantly showed love and friendship to everyone. She will be sorely missed, but rejoice with her as she is joined and embraced by loved ones on the other side. She is now walking freely, finally relieved of the disease that kept her bound. Love you, Sharry!
