Sharon Kay Peterson, 83, of Grand Island, NE died on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Tiffany Square with family by her side. A private graveside service will be held at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Apfel funeral home is assisting the family; online condolences may be left at www.apfelfuneralhome.com.
She was born on January 19, 1942, in Grand Island, NE to Dale and Laverna (Schmidt) Donnelly. She attended school in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High School. Sharon worked at various restaurants in the kitchen. Sharon was a member at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Sharon is survived by her sister, Patricia Smith; nephew, Steve (Alissa) Smith; nieces: Stacy (Mike) Bailey and Heather (Dan) Crowley; 12 great nieces and nephews; 16 great-great nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Laverna; two step-fathers: Robert Peterson and Jack Reimers; brother, Ronn Peterson; brother-in-law, Pete Smith; and numerous other relatives.
