Sharon Elaine McElreath Powell, 62, of Marion, passed away at her home on Saturday afternoon, November 15, 2025 after a lengthy illness.
Sharon was a native of Buncombe County and was born on November 1, 1963 to the late Charles Ray McElreath and Leona Faye Dodd McElreath. Sharon was a true and loving friend to many, and she was always looking for ways to help others. She was known as Bonnie to family and friends. Sharon possessed a wild and beautiful spirit and was unafraid to express her mind. She was a strong woman who was beloved by many. She had a love for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Charles Dean McElreath.
She is survived by her loving and caring companion and caregiver, Alan Harris; two sons, Shawn Powell (Rachel) and Nathan Johns (Jamie); her brother, Ken McElreath (Deana); her sister, Becky Matter (Mark); and four grandchildren.
In accordance with her wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
