Sharon Ralph Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McMillan-Small Funeral Home & Crematory on Mar. 20, 2026.
Sharon Lee Ralph, 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 19, 2026. She recently moved to Myrtle Beach, SC from Powder Springs, GA. She was born on February 13, 1947 to William and Vera Shemeley in Camden, NJ.

Sharon grew up in Port Monmouth, NJ and was a key punch operator. At age 21, she married Robert H. Ralph, Jr, a private in the U. S. Army. They later settled in West Milford, NJ where they raised their three children. In 1999, Sharon and Bob relocated to Greer, SC for his job. While living in SC, Sharon became a patient care technician and worked with older adults who had Alzheimer's and dementia. She loved her "people"; loved relaying their stories to her children, caring for them when they could not care for themselves, and even just sitting with them to be their company. Sharon retired in 2009. She remained in SC until 2013, at which time she moved to Atlanta, GA.

For the next 13 years, Sharon spent most of her time helping to care for her three middle grandchildren, Sean, Alex and Grace. She also volunteered at Lost Mountain Baptist Church in the Nursery on Sunday mornings and with the 3 and 4 year olds on Wednesday nights. She also enjoyed spending time with the ladies in her Sunday School class at LMBC.

Sharon is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Robert H. Ralph, Jr, brothers William Shemeley and Frank McNellis, and her parents, William and Vera Shemeley. She is survived by her three children: daughters Amy Beth Riley (Mike), Jennifer Dawn Dugger (Yon) and son Stephen Joshua Ralph (Michelle). She has nine grandchildren: Marcus Dugger, Jaide (Kyle) Graham, Jennai Dugger, Sean Riley, Deejhay Ralph, Alexandra Riley, S. Grace Riley, Amara Ralph and Caleb Ralph. She has one great-granddaughter, Skylar Graham.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either of Sharon's favorite charities:

Compassion International (sponsor a child living in poverty): compassion.com

World Vision (eliminate poverty): worldvision.org

A celebration of life is planned for summer 2026 in New Jersey. An announcement will be made when details become available.
