Sharon Sanzaro, 78, of Toms River, NJ passed away Friday, October 17, 2025. Born in Red Bank, NJ on Christmas Eve, she lived in Rumson & Eatontown, NJ before moving to Toms River over 50 years ago.
She was a devoted and loving mother. People remember her for her quick wit. In her younger years, she raced cars at Englishtown Raceway. She poured her creative energy into the school PTO when her children were young. She was an avid reader and crossword enthusiast. She spent many years working alongside her husband and family in construction and recycling. She was strong yet kind-hearted throughout her life and enjoyed the peace of retirement for quite some time.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Sanzaro, Sr. in 2006, her parents William and Clarissa Layton, her brother Billy Layton and her brothers-in-law Joseph Sanzaro and John McCann and her best friend Marianne Cermak. Sharon is survived by her three children, Traci LaScola and her husband Don of Bayville, Angela Kacsur and her husband Martin of Toms River and Louis Sanzaro Jr. and his wife Nicole of Toms River and six grandchildren, Anthony LaScola and fiancé Kelly Leath, Gia LaScola and her boyfriend Alex Grella, Louis III, Sofia and Lucia Sanzaro and Josie Kacsur. She is also survived by her sisters in law Mary Jane Sanzaro and Joanne McCann who were more like sisters to her, nephews Jonathan Sanzaro and his wife Leigh, Joseph Sanzaro III and his wife Kari, nieces Kelly Santiago and her husband Eric, Erin Connors and her husband Jon and several grand nieces and nephews, Jonathan, Nicholas, Joey, Emmie, Isabelle, Livia, Jack and Declan.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. Services will be private.
