December 12, 1936 - December 24, 2025

Sharon Schaffer, 89, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at UnityPoint Health - Allen Hospital. She was born December 12, 1936, in Waterloo, daughter of Homer and Myrtle (Morgan) Young. She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1955.

Sharon married Clarence Schaffer on September 15, 1956, at First Baptist Church in Waterloo. Clarence preceded Sharon in death on April 20, 2024.

She is survived by her children: Debra Foss of San Clemente, CA, Daniel (Jill) Schaffer of Colorado Springs, CO, and Bob (Kari) Schaffer of Waterloo; daughter-in-law, Linda Schaffer of Waterloo; nine grandchildren, brother Dave (Cathy) Young of Ankeny, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, and son Bruce Schaffer.

Sharon and I grew up together and then my family moved to Arizona but we remained close through phone calls, letters and visits throughout the years. We were cousins but also best friends. I will miss her greatly. She is a beautiful person on the outside and inside. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. I am sorry that I missed the services but I didn't receive notice of when it would be held. I am sure that it was a great tribute to her memory.
