Sharon Schultz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evergreen Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel on May 23, 2025.
On May 16 th, 2025, at 9:58pm, our beloved Sharon Kay Schultz passed away surrounded by her family
at Peace Health Hospital in Vancouver, WA., she was 84 years old.
Sharon was born on January 6th at St. Joseph's Hospital to parents Vivian and John Dolan. As a baby,
during WWII, when her dad was a welder at the Kaiser Shipyard in Vancouver, her parents bought a
little store at the Heissen Bridge and Lewis River north of Battle Ground, where the Dolan sisters;
Beverly, Sally and Sharon lived in the attached house with their parents. After the war ended, they
moved to the farm in Battleground, where she spent her elementary school and junior high years until
1955 when her dad sold the farm, and the family moved back to Vancouver where she attended
Hudson's Bay high school. and graduated in 1959. Three days after graduation, she and her best
friend, Mary Dawley started working at Blue Bell Potato Chip factory. As the years progressed, they
continued to meet some "cool" guys, and their friend Carole Manning introduced Sharon to Jack, also
known as "Smiley". She met the love of her life that summer, at the Spic n' Span restaurant,
downtown Vancouver and married shortly after on September 10th, 1960. They had 64 blessed years
together and four children.
Sharon loved Jack and their children unconditionally – she unselfishly gave up a singing scholarship
she received in high school to start her family with Jack, but she never stopped singing. In church,
heads would turn to look to see who was singing like an angel. At home, she would sing while making
meals or any time she was able to. A wonderful memory Jack and her children will never forget.
Sharon volunteered at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where she oversaw the information booth at the
Vancouver Sausage Fest for many, many years. She also loved to golf with her friends from the
Portland Air Base and she also loved to bowl, she was in multiple bowling leagues over the years. The
last bowling team she was on was called the "John's Angels" after her dad.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Vivian Dolan; her sister Beverly (Rod) Smith,
nephews Mark Smith, Brett Smith, Steve Kensil, Tom Kensil and her niece Joanie Kensil. And
numerous other family members who loved her very much.
She is survived by her husband, Jack, their children: Kimberly Stivison (Chuck), Karen Metro, Jack
Schultz (Jill) and Keely Nelson (Philip). Grandchildren: Jeffery Smith, Ashley Eichler (Matt), Corinne
Malakar (Rajeev), Austin Stivison (Brittany), Aly Irzyk (Zach), Brady Schultz (Elizabeth), Dillon Smith,
Matthew Schultz (Pam), Bubba Smith, and Emily Pickering. 12 Great Grandchildren plus 3 on the way.
Siblings: Sally Alves, John Dolan (Chris) and Bob Dolan (Sheri).
Sharon's family requests that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember her would make a gift to St.
Jude's Children Hospital.
She was loved by many, and we will always carry her memory in our hearts.
"Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted" - Matthew 5:4
