A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Glendive Evangelical Church. Interment will take place at Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive. Silha Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Sharon was born on October 17, 1945, in Glendive to Lawrence and Eleanor (Gilbertson) Buller. She grew up in Glendive and graduated from Dawson County High School with the class of 1963. Not long after, she met the love of her life, Ervin Smith. The two were married on May 9, 1964, in Buffalo, South Dakota, beginning a lifelong partnership that would span over six decades. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Sharon dedicated her life to her family and home. Her warm and gentle spirit created a household full of love and stability, where family always came first.
Sharon had a deep appreciation for the beauty of the mountains, in particular Glacier National Park, and a lifelong compassion for animals. She was especially fond of cats, often rescuing and caring for those in need. Her kind heart and strong faith were a guiding light to all who knew her. She was a woman of quiet strength, unwavering devotion, and a gentle presence that made everyone feel at home. Above all, Sharon's greatest pride and joy was her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always offering them love, wisdom, and support.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant daughter, Cheryl; and her son, Randy. While her presence here will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with them in the peace of the next life, a joyful homecoming long awaited, filled with love beyond measure.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ervin Smith of Glendive; her son, Jeff (Michelle) Smith of Minot, North Dakota; her grandchildren, Tasha (Ross) Mann, Shelby (Jason) Scarpholt, and Tori Smith; eight great-grandchildren: Madison Smith, Jayden Lehman, Hunter Lawrance, Molly Smith, Harper Scarpholt, Alaina Scarpholt, Mallory Smith, and Steven Mann; her sister, Janice Officer of Des Moines, Washington; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Sharon will be remembered for her gentle heart, her deep love for her family, and her enduring faith. Her presence will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
