Sharon LaRue Smith, age 82, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at her home in Avon Park, Florida. She was born on February 7, 1943, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of the late James Vernon Malin and Mavis LaRue (McElyea) Malin. Sharon had been a resident of Avon Park, Florida, for the past 15 years. Sharon enjoyed playing cards, participating in bingo, and spending time shopping. She cherished these activities and the time spent with family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband Robert Smith, daughters, Sherri Verdier and husband Alan, Michelle Haney and Husband Kenny. She will also be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Sharon was preceded in death by her son, Ron Smith; her parents; two brothers; and one sister. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.
