Sharon Kay Taflinger

Sharon Kay Taflinger, 79, of Macomb, Illinois, formerly of Bushnell, passed away at 8:15 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025, at The Elms Nursing Home. She was born on July 12, 1946, in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Dan and Violet (Hurstrom) Vancil. She married Mike Taflinger on August 30, 1964, in Geneseo, Illinois. He survives. Also surviving are three sons: Dwayne (Velvet) Taflinger of Avon, Dwight (Tammy) Taflinger of Bushnell, and Darrin (Monica) Taflinger of Bushnell; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters: Imogene, Dorothy, Alice, Beverly, and Linda. Sharon was a 1964 graduate of Alwood High School. A devoted homemaker, she was an excellent cook and baker and a talented seamstress. She also made custom tractor covers for antique tractors and equipment, which were sought after by many collectors and restorers from all over the world. Determined and strong-willed, Sharon approached every challenge with perseverance. In 1991, she fulfilled a lifelong goal by earning her Registered Nurse certificate from Carl Sandburg College. Quiet and humble by nature, Sharon found great joy in caring for others. A self-taught and avid painter, she especially enjoyed tole painting and loved watching cardinals. Above all, she cherished her grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and happiness. Cremation rites have been accorded by Martin-Hollis Funeral Home. Services will be held privately.
