Sharon Waggoner Obituary
Mrs. Sharon Kaye Waggoner (née Jenkins), age 77, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Born on October 11, 1948, in Pike County, Ohio, she lived a life marked by devotion to her family and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that brought her happiness.
Sharon was the wife of Raymond Waggoner and a mother to three daughters: Stephanie Merrill (Norman) of Ocean Springs, Jennifer Hansen (David) of Gulfport, and Pam Waggoner of Long Beach. Her love extended across generations to her grandchildren—Josh Shelton (Candice) of Vancleave, Landon Merrill of Wade, Derek McElroy (Tabitha) of Maplesville, Alabama, Sable McElroy of Gulfport, and Austin Willis of Long Beach, as well as numerous great-grandchildren who brought light and laughter into her later years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Luna Rigsby Jenkins, and her grandson Robert McElroy.
Sharon retired civil service from the Biloxi VA. Throughout her life, she found joy in many pursuits. She was an avid reader who cherished quiet moments with a good book. Shopping trips brought her delight, while time spent on the golf course reflected her active spirit. Above all else, she treasured time with her family and held a special place in her heart for the dogs she loved so dearly over the years.
In honor of Sharon’s memory and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Junction Grief Center at 8216 Ocean Springs Road, Ocean Springs, MS 39564 or to the Jackson County Animal Shelter at 4400 Audubon Lane, Gautier, MS 39553—two causes close to her heart.
May Sharon’s memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, December 22 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd. Biloxi, MS in West Jackson County. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Ocean Springs, MS. Interment will follow immediately after funeral services at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave. Biloxi, MS.
