Sharon Ward Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Potere-Modetz Funeral Home - Rochester on Jan. 25, 2026.
Sharon L. Ward, age 84, of Rochester Hills arrived in Heaven on January 24th, 2026. She was greeted by the Love of Her Life of 55 years, John (Jack) M. Ward, and her cherished son, Frederick M. Ward. Beloved Mom of Nancy A. (Gene) Turner, the late Frederick M. Ward, and Matthew S. (Jeanne) Ward. Treasured forever in the hearts of her grandchildren Melanie (Linden) Turner, Jonathan (Hannah) Turner, Alexander Turner, and Alison Ward. Great-Grandma to Oliver Turner. She is also survived by her sister, Charlene Morris, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved her very dearly.

Sharon was born on September 16th, 1941 in Petoskey, Michigan to Emilius and Ruth (Berry) Gardner. After losing her biological Father at a very young age, she was raised by her Mother and Father, Sam Morris, with her siblings. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Tom, Dick, Barb, Patricia, Tom, Mike, Dan, Gary, and Bob, as well as her father-in-law, mother-in-law, and three sister-in-laws.

Sharon served in the United States Navy, which is where she met Jack on a blind date and was then married to him on February 27th, 1965…and the rest was history. From the love Sharon felt and grew in her marriage to Jack she was then able to share with so many others and touched the hearts and minds of many children she took care of throughout the years. Sharon's joy for life, her fierce love for her family and friends, her forgiving heart, her sweet disposition, and her radiant smile are the things she will be remembered most for.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, January 31st, 2026, at 4:00pm at the Potere-Modetz Funeral Home, 339 Walnut Blvd.,

Rochester. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00-4:00pm. Interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation for Veterans and First Responders, as well as Gold Star and Blue Star Families.
