Sharon Joyce Wells

Sharon Joyce Wells, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother,

sister and friend passed away peacefully Thursday, November 6, surrounded by her family.

Sharon was born in Akron, Ohio on December 4, 1943 to the late Shirlee Julia Roush and John Patrick Denning, and she lived a full and exceptional life defined by love, dedication and commitment. As a daughter in a military family, Sharon was fortunate to live all over the US and internationally in her younger days.

She shared 65 wonderful years with her devoted husband, Robert Norman Wells. Together they raised four children who were the pride of her life – Shirlee (Jim), Martha (Mike), Ian and Rachel (Drew). Her joy grew with the arrival of her cherished grandchildren – Jacquiline, Daniel, Melissa, Hailee, Julia, Benjamin and Penelope – who will ever remember their "Grandma" for her love, infectious laugh, fun stories and smile. The arrival of her great-grandson, Jameson, was a precious delight in her life. She is also survived by her brothers Jerome (Jeanne) and Danny (Susan) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sharon graduated with a BS in Gerontology from Ramapo College in New Jersey, loved volunteering with her AA friends, the Hope Pregnancy Center and gardening. She was a parishioner at St. Bede's in Williamsburg.

Above all, Sharon will be remembered for her love – for her family, her friends and the life she built with them. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A funeral Mass will be held at Noon on Wednesday, November 19 at Saint Bede Church in Williamsburg, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Williamsburg House of Mercy.
