Shawn Matthew Ayers

Shawn Matthew Ayers, age 46, of Auxvasse, MO, unexpectedly passed away on April 26, 2024. He was a lover of the macabre, enjoying scary movies and Halloween. Shawn had a dark sense of humor inherited from his family, and was known as a drama-free guy, a good friend, and a great listener. He was direct with his advice and opinions. He was the resident "Cat Lady" of the area. He was adopted by many area cats that he took care of and loved.
Shawn is survived by his son Gaige Ayers, his stepson Brandon Reed, parents Tammy and Dan Breeden, brother Charles (Jen) Ayers, sister Shannon (Willie) Hoffmann, brother Daniel Breeden, stepbrothers Shawn (Danielle) Breeden, Zachariah (Michelle) Breeden, stepsister Rae Breeden, cousins Richard, Sidney, Emma, and Dean Nelson, numerous nieces and nephews, uncle Larry Lanham, aunt Deborah (Mark) Guenther, and uncle Donald (Jean) Breeden. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Wilma Breeden, grandparents Rosemary and Lester Lanham, and uncle Rick Nelson.
Shawn attended North Callaway High school and worked 12 1/2 years at Production Products in Fulton, MO. He considered many of his coworkers as family and enjoyed decorating the warehouse for Halloween.
His hobbies included fishing, collecting comic books and comic cards, playing video games, collecting gaming systems, and playing various tabletop games. He was a talented artist and painted hundreds of miniature figures.
A memorial service for Shawn will be held on May 25 at 1 pm at Rising Sun Baptist Church. The Parker-Millard funeral home in Columbia, MO, is performing the cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association or if led, monetary donations to assist with the costs of the cremation and inurnment would be appreciated.
Shawn will be deeply missed by all of his loved ones, including his lifelong best friends JB Winingear and James Stiers.
