Shawn Patrick Ferguson passed away suddenly on August 19, 2024, at his home in Simpsonville, SC, which he shared with his loving wife, Irene, and faithful companion, Tinker. He was born on February 21, 1951, in Englewood, NJ, and grew up in Enfield, CT, where he graduated from Enfield High School in 1968.
Shawn's parents, Marion (Meier) Ferguson and Michael John Ferguson, preceded him in death. Shawn's foremost passion was spending time with his large and diverse family. He was young at heart and was always excited to spend time with "his" kids of all ages. He is survived by his wife, Irene (Griffith) Ferguson; and daughters, Colleen Ferguson, Katherine Ferguson and her husband Asjad Chaudhary, and Natalie Moore and her husband Lyle. Shawn leaves behind eight grandchildren, Zachary Valton, Tariq, Ibrahim, Salma, Munsoor and Yousuf Chaudhary, Brayden Moore and Isaiah Ferguson. He is also survived by seven siblings, Denise Fletcher, Cheryle Buckland, Sharon D'Ambrosio, Michael Ferguson, Kevin Ferguson, Patrick Ferguson and Margaret Boyd.
Shawn was a man of many personal and professional interests. His athleticism was evident when he played high school football, basketball and skiing. His overriding enthusiasm was his love for all water-related activities. Put Shawn in any kind of boat, and he was a happy man! He had his first boat at 21, learned to sail, and spent many happy hours anchored in the Great Salt Pond at Block Island, RI. Shawn held a Coast Guard Master's license with an unlimited tonnage endorsement. Shawn most recently owned Global Travel 1, where he planned many dream vacations. His latest passion was playing golf with his wife, Irene, and great nephews.
If desired, family and friends may make contributions in his name to the Fox Run Junior Golf Association, Fox Run Country Club in Simpsonville, SC.

A favorite memory that will forever be ingrained in my mind is when he taught my two teenagers how to jumpstart a car properly. He had a heart of gold and was such a loving and caring man to anyone. Especially those needing guidance that he could so readily give! We miss you, Shawn!

So sorry to hear of the passing of Shawn.
I first met when we were dock neighbors in Jamestown. We were both sailers then. We took several sailing trips to Nantucket and Block Island in our boats.
Shawn was one of a kind and a great friend. He will be missed
