Shawn's journey through life was marked by her indomitable spirit, unwavering determination and trust in God. She graduated from Perry High School in Massillon, Ohio, in 1982, and later earned her degree from Stark State College in Canton, Ohio and made Orlando her hometown in 1988. Her career began as an occupational therapy assistant, where she displayed a genuine commitment to helping others before transitioning to customer service roles across multiple companies. Shawn found a lasting home at Orange County Utilities, where she spent 17 years working diligently. She served as a Utilities Services Coordinator before retiring earlier this year.
In addition to her professional achievements, Shawn was known for her brave, determined personality and positive attitude. She was a hard worker, tirelessly striving to achieve her goals despite the many challenges she faced throughout her personal life. She was also deeply involved in her community and her church. She enjoyed the opportunity to teach Bible study and volunteer for numerous ministries which reflected her faith in God and commitment to helping others including Bible quizzing, camp counseling, participating on the worship team and church leadership.
Shawn had a remarkable passion for music; she loved to sing and was a talented vocalist whose performances brought her immense joy and defined a significant part of her life. In her personal time, she cherished making dinner for her family and sharing meals together, creating a space of warmth and connection.
She is survived by her devoted parents, Burton and Marian J. (Duff) Wilkins; her loving sister, Cheryl Urciuoli, and her husband Ray; her brother, Burton Wilkins, Jr., and his wife Vicki; as well as five nieces, two great-nieces, and one great-nephew. Shawn’s family will forever remember how much she loved them and loved to be with them. She also loved her dear chihuahua, Coco, who she enjoyed for 13 years.
A memorial gathering will be held on December 6, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, followed by a memorial service from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - East Orlando Chapel, 895 S Goldenrod Rd, Orlando, FL, 32822.
