Shawna was my cousin and just a year older than me. As a child I dearly loved her and looked up to her. She was beautiful and bright and sweet. I only saw her once in the last 50 years or so and she was just as I remembered. Still warm and kind. I was so sorry to hear of her passing. My condolences to all of my Merrell cousins.

Met Shawna just 18 months ago when we both started working as ordinance workers at the Draper Temple. We hit it off immediately and had many quiet chats about hard things. I could always feel her strength, love of the gospel and her family. I'm so sad she was taken home so early in life. I know how much she will be missed by all those who love her!,

I like to offer my deepest sympathy.
May the God of all comfort strengthen the family during this difficult time. Those who pass on, God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes. My deepest condolences. (Psalms 116:15)

Cousin Bob:
Barta and I were saddened to hear of the loss of your dear companion. Barta is a breast cancer survivor since 2000. We have been blessed. We know a little bit of the battle and treatments that preserved Barta's life. We are so sorry that Shawna's battle was not successful. It has been years since we have interacted but our love goes out to you and your children. You have been in our prayers since we heard the sad news. Because we live so far away, we cannot join with you to celebrate her life. Please know that our thoughts will be with you this week and the future.
