Shebra, I woke up thinking about you this morning not that I don't think of you everyday. I often ask myself why did you leave me, why did you have to go so soon then I said that God needed another beautiful, smart, intelligent angel to help him out. I love you to the most high and will miss you tremendously. Rest in Eternal Peace sister until we see each other again. I love you Shebra so much.

To the Family of Shebra Simms:I love singing in the choir at Nineteenth Street Baptist Church and will miss looking out into the congregation to see Shebra Simms on her feet, worshiping God and singing along with us. She would have her hands in the air and a big smile on her face. That is how I will always remember her. Thank you for sharing her with us.

To Shebra's sisters and Gil,
Shebra's smile and infectious laugh and spirit was always a high point when we made trips to D.C. Our prayer to God is that you move swiftly from the night of weeping to the morning of joy! God bless you all.

Shebra was one of my dearest and oldest friends since my arrival to DC in 1977. Shebra was beautiful inside and out as demonstrated by her eternal big bright smile. Shebra loved going to and giving parties, except New Year's Eve when she would always be in church. Shebra was fashionable to say the least to the point of never even owning a pair of jeans until she was in her 40s. She was unique down to her name, as she always clarified, it's SHEBRA, not Sheba. I love you and I miss you.

Blessed are those who Mourn:for they shall be comforted, I've known Shebra for over 25 years, and she has made a everlasting compact on my life that will stay with me forever, NO ONE AND I MEAN NO ONE COULD light up a room like that big smile of her, no matter what was going on she could truly make anyone fill like everything is going to be OK, just by walking into the room, Gill like many of us will hold on to all the great time we all SHARED with her, so Rest in peace my sweet and kind Sister and I love you with all my heart and soul

What can I say about my friend Shebra Simms? That she was and will forever be one of my oldest and dearest friends from the day I started working at H.U.D. back in 1977? That she ALWAYS had the most beautiful wide smile on her face? That she always enjoyed life to its fullest? That she was the person who introduced me to the man that I loved until the day he died? That, though she loved to throw big parties, she was ALWAYS in church on New Year's Eve? That she loved high fashion and wore it well? That her family ALWAYS came first. That's just a small portion of what I remember about my good friend Shebra. Remember ShebRa, not Sheba.

God's grace gave Shebra a wonderful life, God's order afforded me the opportunity to meet her because of my brother-in-law, Charles Hall. She was always smiling, welcoming, and so inclusive. I light this candle for Shebra because another star light has enteted the heavens. May God make his face to shine upon Gill, Shebra's sisters, other family members and friends, and give you peace
