Sheila Sharp Caulkins, 81, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Caulkins was born in Dalhart, Texas on January 29, 1944, daughter to the late Guymon G. Davis and Alene Davis.
After her childhood years her family moved to Jacksonville and she was a graduate of Andrew Jackson Sr. High School class of 61 and numerous courses in Personnel Management including Dale Carnegie Human Relations Course, City of Jacksonville Personnel Management Course, Statistical, Job Analysis and computer classes through Florida Junior College.
She orked as a concession stand worker for the Holly Ridge Drag Strip in North Carolina before coming back to Jacksonville and working for Halls Men's Clothing Store and Standard Sales. In 1963 she began her career with the City of Jacksonville where she later retired.
She was a long-time member of the former North Main Street Baptist Church where she served on the Music Committee. She was past president of the Retired Employees Association and the Marine Corps Leaue Detachment 059, Vice Chairman of the Employees Pension Advisory Commitee, President & Secretary of the Andrew Jackson Sr. High School Athletic Booster Club, member of the Florida Public Personnel Association and International Personnel management Association, Florida State Affiliation. She also served as an officer, including President, Vice President or Secretary to many organizations to include the North Jacksonville Little Women's Club, PEPMO Club, Beach Boppers Association, Board of Directors for the Jacksonville City Hall Credit Union, Brownie Girl Scout Leader, Den Mother for Cub Scouts and enjoyed singing in the Jacksonville City Hall Singers Group for Christmas. As well, she was a consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics and assisted with the Marine Corps Toys For Tots Program for many years.
Mrs. Caulkins was preceded in death by her parents Guymon G. Davis and Alene Davis Kirkland and a grandson: Connor Sharp. Survivors include her husband of 26 years: Jack M. Caulkins, 3 sons: Derek Sharp (Tamara), Brett Sharp (Shylah) and Kyle Sharp (Kelly); 3 step-children: Lane Caulkins, Casey Nix and Marieta Piderman (Peter); sister: Kim Davis; 9 grandchildren: Brooke Hurst (Hayden), Megan Sharp, Sierra Boer, Melissa Meyers (Richard), Lyla Nix, Levi Ariker and Jake Cochran as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on July 10, 2025 in the Event Center at Peeples with the Rev. Dr. Leona Spann officiating. Burial will follow in Jacksonville National Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home prior to the memorial service.
