Sheila Handler Obituary

Sheila M Handler cherished grandmother, beloved wife, mother and matriarch of the Handler family passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Wednesday November 26th 2025

Sheila lived a wonderful life with her husband Richard F. They were married in August of 1978 and became a part of the newly founded community of Columbia Md. Shortly after Sheila became a mother to her son Richard J (Richie) her pride and joy.

Though she is no longer with us, her constant smile, joy, loyalty, wisdom, constant support and care will truly be missed. Sheila was always one of the brightest lights in the room. Her absence will be deeply felt in our hearts by all who knew her.

Sheila devoted her life to her family, but also took great pride and dedication as a special education teacher with Howard county public schools. Sheila had 40 plus years of teaching, everyone could tell how much pride she had in being an educator.

Sheila found so much joy, love and comfort in family dinners, shopping with Taylor, Reece and Lindsay. She was able to make every moment special, even the tiniest of things were made huge. Whether it was a holiday, a birthday, or just getting through a rough day. There was always a card and some kind of treat. Sheila really believed in the little things, she never forgot , even on days when she wasn't 100%. She taught us the meaning of love, resilience and family not through words but through her deep and amazing actions.

Sheila will be forever missed and always be the brightest light.
