Sheila Kaye Kinsella, cherished mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, passed away in a tragic traffic accident near Groesbeck, Texas, along with her daughter-in law, Jordan Mayeux near her home in Thornton, on July 24, 2025. She was 55 years old. Born and raised in Prairieville, Louisiana, she was reared by two wonderful parents, Norman and Patsy Kinsella. As a child, she attended Galvez Elementary and St. Amant High School and later lived in Texas with her son and his children and wife. She loved sports and tennis, which her dad taught her to play on the court he built in his pasture in Galvez for her mom. During her mom’s decline from Alzheimer’s, she was by her parents’ side, providing help and loving support. Sheila was a sweet, gentle soul, loved by all who knew her. Above all she loved her family and friends, and especially her children, Blair and Mark, and her six grandchildren. She was especially close to several dear friends, including John and Shawn Erskine, Amber Bergeron, and Kelly Foster . Always loyal, kind, and generous, those who knew and loved her will always be touched by her warm spirit and will always miss her welcoming smile.
Sheila was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents and her brother Michael.
A ceremony in honor of Sheila’s life will take place on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 15208 Hwy 73 Prairieville, LA 70769. Visitation will begin at 8:30am followed by Mass at 10:00am. A reception will follow at the Church hall. The interment is planned to follow at the Ficklin Family Cemetery in Prairieville at a later date.
