New Comer Cremations & Funerals - SyracuseSheila passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025 at age 78. She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin C. Lutz, her parents John A and Patricia M Ragan, her brother John Timothy Ragan, sister Marie Lorbach Tatay, sister Patricia A Thornton, her husband Courtney Winn.
She is survived by her loving children, Carl (Susan) Lutz; Gretta (Jeremy) Hellems, granddaughter Eva Hellems, her sister Mary Jo Zissler, 1 niece, 5 nephews, stepchildren Kay (Lee) Shaw, Terri (Alton) Dignean, Susan (Dave) Harrison, Courtney (Sue) Winn their children/grandchildren and MANY close neighbors and treasured friends.
Sheila was rooted in her Catholic faith who lived to serve others. She was a very active member of her church at Divine Mercy Parish. She volunteered for many position’s which include: assisting with funeral reception, donating to the food pantry, tallying the donations, tidying the church, making baked goods and any other tasks that needed to be fulfilled.
Sheila lived a life that could not be mistaken for anyone else’s. Her quick wit and loving personality was infectious. She loved being near the water, whether it be at home, traveling, swimming in her pool, and even exercising (aerobics). She enjoyed her nights of trivia at the Sandbar, karaoke, playing games especially Scrabble with her granddaughter, Eva. She was an avid gardener and golfer.
Sheila’s welcoming, generous hospitality will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.
A memorial mass celebrating her life will be held at Divine Mercy Parish, 592 S. Main Street, Central Square, NY on November 21, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. In honoring her wishes, interment will be private and there will be no prior calling hours.
Contributions in her memory can be made to the Divine Mercy Parish and/or Hospice of CNY.
