Sheila "She She" Matthews, age 92, of Jonesboro, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
Born on June 6, 1933, in Manchester, England, Sheila was the daughter of the late Fred Hilton and Edith Thornley. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert B. Matthews, Sr.; her sister, Kathy Ayscue; and her niece, Karen King.
Sheila was an active member of her community and a proud member of the Elks Lodge 242 in Charleston, South Carolina, where she served as president of the Does. She had a passion for baking, dancing, and crocheting and was known for her deep love of animals and her family.
Sheila is survived by her son, Robert "Bob" (Vicki) Matthews, Jr.; her granddaughter, Lisa (Doug) Dojan; and her great-granddaughters, Brie (Pete) Dojan and Taylor (Andrew) Gifford. She is also survived by her great-nephews, Garrick (Mary Kate) King, Maddox Andrew King, and Graydon (Morgan Lindsay) King, her sister-in-law, Pat Newman, along with many extended family members and cherished friends.
A memorial service, officiated by Michael Tinney, will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Ford-Stewart Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM.
