Sheila Shan Sumrall, a cherished member of the Gulfport community, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi, at the age of 74. Born on January 18, 1951, in Prentiss, Mississippi, Sheila was a lifelong resident of Gulfport, where she built a life filled with love, laughter, and community involvement.
Sheila was a proud graduate of Gulfport East High School. She dedicated her life to her family and was known for her warm and caring personality. Her love for life was evident through her participation in local events such as Cruising the Coast and various festivals, where she created numerous memories with her family and friends.
Sheila is survived by her partner of 19 years, Barbara Hawkins of Gulfport; her children, Thomas B. Sumrall, Jr., and his wife Penny of Gainesville, Florida, Shan C. Quillin and her husband Greg of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Jill G. Moran and her husband Jared of Gulfport. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Tyler, Cade, Raigen, Kyle, Gretchen, and Tatum, as well as her great-grandchild, Malley Jane. Sheila also leaves behind her siblings, Judy Robinson, Tim Magee and his wife Jane, and Diane Fletcher and her husband Russell, along with other loving family members and friends.
Sheila was preceded in death by her father, Grover T. Magee, and her mother, Bobbie B. Magee.
A visitation will be held in her honor on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 11:00 AM at Riemann Family Funeral Home located at 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport, MS 39503.
Sheila's generous spirit and unwavering love for her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of South Mississippi.
