Sheilah R. Longhofer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on September 11, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on August 14, 1941, Sheilah was raised on a farm in Kansas, where her love for the simple joys of life began to flourish. From an early age, she actively participated in 4-H, developing a strong sense of responsibility and connection to the land that would stay with her throughout her life.
Sheilah was a woman of many talents and passions. She cultivated a lifelong love for music, which led her to play the piano and the organ at church for around 40 years. Her dedication to music and love for God was further exemplified through her involvement in the church choir for many years.
In addition to her musical talents, Sheilah found joy in gardening and taking care of flowers and nurturing beauty around her home. An integral part of her life was her family, which she treasured above all else. Sheilah’s grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she devoted herself to creating lasting memories with them. Her kindness and generosity were felt by those around her, as she consistently desired to serve her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and do everything she could to support and uplift her family.
Sheilah is survived by her husband, Wayne Longhofer; her son, Ronald (Beverly) Longhofer; and her daughter, Tina (Steve) Northcutt. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Karen (Aaron) Curtis, Heidi Longhofer, Laura (Josue) Sanchez, Nathan (Alicia) Longhofer, Kristi (Caleb) Knight, Amber (James) Pursselley, Ryan Northcutt, and Andrew Northcutt. Additionally, she is survived by ten great-grandchildren: Kailee, Joshua, and Jordan Sanchez; Bennett, Bethany, and Emmett Longhofer; and Nathan, Echo, CJ, and Lincoln Pursselley. She also leaves behind her brother, Larry (Barbara) Richard, along with other family members and a host of friends whose lives she touched profoundly.
Sheilah was preceded in death by her father, Edward Richard, and her mother, Mildred Richard. Her legacy of love, music, and devotion to family will forever resonate in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Visitation services for Sheilah R. Longhofer will be held on September 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Grace Baptist Church, located at 3601 Ehlmann Rd, St Charles, MO 63301. The funeral service will take place the following day, September 15, 2025, at 11:30 AM, also at Grace Baptist Church, concluding with a graveside service at St. Charles Memorial Gardens, 3950 W Clay St, St Charles, MO 63301, where she will be laid to rest at 1:15 PM.
