The Woman who's veins ran with Dr. Pepper passed away peacefully on September 23 2023. She was born August 23rd 1936 to Veda Merenda and Charles Cory Williams. She was the "baby monster" of 6 siblings. Shela married Steve Stevenson February 14th 1955 and later divorced. She married Rulon Jack Painter, Jr. who preceded her in death and were later sealed in the LDS Temple.
Shela worked as a bus aide for Provo School district, retail worker for Fred Meyers, cleaning houses and D&L trucking.
Shela loved to bake cakes for anyone in the ward that needed it. We will always love hot pudding and fudge because of her. She loved Christmas and had to buy every person she knew a gift. When she was younger she loved bowling, soft ball and being on the mountain, camping or hunting. She always told everyone, she could out shoot them any day. One of her favorite things after retirement was sitting on her porch and visiting with her neighbors. Shela served as Camp Director for 4 years for the LDS church and loved it.
Shela was always willing to help anyone and that is why through the years she has added many kids that aren't her kids to the family. Shela was a fiesty lady who didn't hold anything back. She said exactly what she thought. We assume everyone in heaven is getting an earful as we speak. She fought really hard to stay here or maybe those in heaven just weren't ready for her strong personality. Her brother Ike had to go first in April to prepare everyone for the baby monsters appearance. Her loud personality will be sorely missed by all those who loved her. She loved all her kids and grandkids bigger than the moon and higher than the stars.
Shela is survived by her sister La Varda "Pennie" Christensen. Her 3 children Darwin Stevenson, Tina(Ken Painter), Jade(Amber) Painter. 11 grandkids and 3 great grandkids and 1 great great grandchild, many nieces and nephews, and many others that called her grandma.
There will be a viewing Friday, September 29th 9:30am-11 at the Grandview Stake Center 1081 W 1060 N Provo, Utah. Funeral services will follow at 11am 1081 W 1060 N Provo, Utah. Internment will be at the Santaquin Cemetery.
Thank you to Beehive Homes and Hospice care and all the many people that have always helped her.
