With hearts full of love and gratitude, we gather to celebrate and honor the beautiful life of Mrs. Shelba Jean Frazier-a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, caring sister, faithful aunt, loyal friend, and extraordinary woman of God. Shelba was a woman whose presence brought warmth, whose words brought comfort, and whose life was a living testimony of faith, perseverance, and unconditional love. Having completed her earthly assignment, she has peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home, where she now rests eternally in the presence of her Savior.
Shelba Jean Frazier was born on April 30, 1950, in
Monroe, Louisiana, to the late Olivet Anderson and Willie Wright Jr. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, laying a spiritual foundation that guided her throughout her life. She was nurtured in faith at China Grove Baptist Church in Monroe, where her love for God and devotion to service began.
In 1970, Shelba relocated to
Pontiac, Michigan, carrying with her strong values, faith, and determination. She continued her spiritual journey at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and later became a devoted member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. Her faith was not confined to Sunday worship-it was reflected daily through her kindness, integrity, compassion, and unwavering trust in God.
Shelba valued education and personal growth. She graduated from Pontiac Northern High School and furthered her studies at Oakland University, earning a degree in Communications, a field well-suited to her natural ability to connect with and uplift others.
At the heart of Shelba's life was her family. She was united in holy matrimony to Walter Frazier Jr., her lifelong partner and greatest supporter. Together, they shared 55 years of marriage, building a union rooted in faith, resilience, mutual respect, and enduring love. Their marriage stood as a beautiful example of commitment and unity.
Shelba was a devoted and nurturing mother to her beloved daughters; who she cherished, Sabrina Kirtz-Frazier and Debra Frazier, and a loving mother to Anthony Frazier (Tonya) and Kelly Cook (Kevon). She was their greatest encourager, fiercest protector, and most faithful prayer warrior.
She shared a very close and loving bond with her grandchildren Parish and Michael, and is also remembered by grandchildren Charles, Roneshia, Javon, Alicia, and Julian.
Professionally, Shelba distinguished herself as a highly respected and accomplished real estate professional whose career spanned more than three decades. She was a proud member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR/MCAR) and dedicated over 30 years of service with RE/MAX in the Hills, where she consistently upheld the highest standards of honesty, integrity, compassion, and excellence. Shelba possessed a strong background in new construction and held a builder's sales license, enabling her to skillfully guide clients through every phase of the home-buying process. Her exceptional service earned her notable recognition, including being featured in the 2003 Oakland Press for turning client dreams into reality, serving as a Top Sales Associate with Coldwell Banker from 1992 to 1994, and achieving RE/MAX Executive 100% and President's Club honors.
Shelba was a true trailblazer in real estate, dedicating more than three decades to helping families achieve the dream of homeownership. Over the course of her distinguished career, she sold more than one thousand homes within the City of Pontiac and played a key role in the development and launch of five subdivisions.
Her work not only expanded housing opportunities but also contributed significantly to neighborhood stabilization and economic development throughout the city. Shelba was the President and Founder of the Pontiac Knolls Subdivision "A-Team", where she demonstrated visionary leadership and mentorship. She was a true pillar of the Pontiac community and a woman whose impact will be felt for generations.
Beyond her many accomplishments, Shelba delighted in life's simple pleasures. She loved watching the fall leaves change color, reading, traveling, and enjoying the music of Elvis Presley. She had a playful affection for frogs and a deep admiration for monarch butterflies, symbols of beauty, transformation, and grace. Above all else, Shelba loved God, and her faith remained the guiding light of her life.
As we remember Sister Shelba, we celebrate her radiant smile, her gentle strength, and her unwavering faith. Her life reflects the words of the Apostle Paul: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7)
Shelba was preceded in death by her parents, Olivet Anderson and Willie Wright Jr., and her sisters Ozell Lee and Geneva Bradford.
She leaves to cherish her memory to her siblings Gloria, James, Carl, Michael, Laura, Joe, Vanessa, Patricia, Wilbur (Marion), Gwendolyn, Michael (Anita), Gary, Larry (Laurie), and Tracy; 65 nieces and nephews, a host of great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family, and countless friends.
