Shelby Jean Parmer Barnes, 86, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. She was born in Arkansas to Roy and Alma Parmer and was preceded in death by her parents and her three siblings. She moved from Decatur, TN to Poughkeepsie, AR in 2015.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Charles Ed Barnes of Poughkeepsie; her daughters, Lisa Smith (and her husband Ronny) of Blytheville, AR and Kim Shamblin of Athens, TN. She was also blessed with two step-children, Sharon Wright of Pangburn, AR and Danny Barnes (and his wife Marlene) of Bald Knob, AR; grandchildren: Ryan and Lacey Shamblin, Logan and Nikki Shamblin, Jordan Shamblin (her youngest grandchild), Riley and Danielle Carter, Coty Carter (her only granddaughter), Josh Vaughn (and his wife Ashley); great-grandchildren: Landon and Shelby Shamblin, Briar Shamblin, Maxwell Carter, Johnathan and Athena Vaughn.
Shelby took pride in her job at Maytag in customer service located in Cleveland, TN, where she worked for 17 years until she was able to retire. She loved her recipe books that she enjoyed using to cook for her family and friends; other important interests were watching Sunday NASCAR and spending time with her family.
A service remembering Shelby and her life will begin at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2025 at the Lebanon Baptist Church in Nelsonville, AR.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Blytheville Humane Society, P.O. Box 1855, Blytheville, AR 72316 or any charity of the donor's choice.
