Shelby Butler Obituary
On January 11th, 2025, I lost my first true love. Shelby was 32 years old and woke up every day to fight a life of mental illness. She fought very hard but, in the end, mental illness won.
Shelby was a lover of all thing's music, books, and animae, all creatures big and small, nature, and her children. And she loved playing King's Choice! Although Shelby chose to leave us, we were not ready to let her go. She has left a Shelby-sized void in the lives of her loved ones.
She leaves behind five beautiful children, Britton, Teagan, Nate, Aven, and Zia; aunts Risa (Ron), Leigh, and Phyllis (Bronwyne); her sister, Missy; and mother, Wendi; also missing Shelby are Andrew and Kelly Butler; and numerous half-siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and online and IRL friends.
We will be doing things a little differently in celebration of Shelby's life, a balloon release will take place Saturday, February 8th, 2025. Details to follow soon. We find comfort in knowing that Shelby is now at peace and no longer suffering. We know she is with her grandma and grandpa, who loved her dearly, and all the animals at the Rainbow Bridge.

I remember meeting shelby in Elberta, AL. She was such a strong, beautiful, confident mama who did her best to hold things together for Aven and her newborn daughter. I remember one evening a group of us girls gathered together to do a little birthday party for one of the ladies there. It was the ladies daughters Bday and the daughter wasn't going to be with her mama. So me, shelby and a few other ladies came together. She was always willing to jump in ams help whenever needed. She cared for everyone. It saddens me to have learned that her depression won. May she fly high amongst the other angels.
