It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Shelby Carroll, a vibrant and promising 19- year -old from Huffman, Texas, who tragically lost her life in a car accident in Martin County on September 19, 2024. Her untimely departure has left a profound void in our lives, but her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched.
Shelby is survived by her parents, Bryan and Cheryl Carroll; sister Riley Carroll; grandparents Rebecca Carroll, David and Melanie Landolt. Aunts and Uncles Jason Carroll, Crystal and Steve Lane Jr., Michelle McKenzie, Steve Carroll Jr. and Erica; cousins and many friends who will always remember her vibrant spirit. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Steve Carroll Sr., and great-grandmother, Melvina Landolt.
Born in Humble, Texas on November 27, 2004, she attended grade school in Huffman and graduated from Hargrave High School as a member of the class of 2023. An active student, Shelby participated in cross country and the Lady Falcon Soccer teams, was a National Honor Society member and officer for the National Art Honor Society. She was an advocate for and President of the Horticulture Club. Most dear to Shelby was her involvement with Huffman FFA, a member for seven years; she served as Vice President during her Junior and Senior years. Outside of school, she participated and volunteered with 4D Livestock and Huffman Youth Soccer.
Shelby left home to continue her education at Texas Tech University, where she attended the Davis College of Agriculture in pursuit of a degree in Plant and Soil Science with a Concentration in Local Food and Wine Production. Shelby was a member of Agri-Techsans and employed as a student assistant with The Visitors Center at Texas Tech, where she gave tours and proudly welcomed future Red Raiders.
To know Shelby was to love her. She used her time on this earth to make an impact on so many people, teaching us all about plants, unconditional love, kindness, and helping others. Her smile was infectious; she was compassionate and had enthusiasm for life. She loved nature and found beauty in all things around her. Driven by her desire to make a positive impact on the environment and community, she was passionate about conservation, farm-to-table initiatives and an advocate for sustainable farming practices.
An account will be opened in memory of Shelby Carroll so that her family may further support her love for conservation, agriculture and scholarships in her memory.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Huffman, 25503 FM 2100 Road Huffman, Texas 77336.
