Ms. Shelby Jean Colvard, age 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Margate Health and Rehab Center.
Jean was born in Ashe County on December 30, 1938, to the late Glen and Verna Price. She was deeply loved by her family and friends. Jean was kind, giving, and a woman of deep faith. She was a gifted seamstress, known also for her quick wit and sense of humor.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Colvard; her parents, Glen and Verna Price; two sisters, Carol Roark and Glenda Bentley; and one brother, Doug Price.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Stacey (Brandon) Dillard of Warrensville, NC; two grandsons, Hunter (Lauren) Barnes of Mouth of Wilson, VA, and Kabel (Haley) Dillard of West Jefferson, NC; and one great-grandson, Anderson Barnes. She is also survived by two sisters: Willa (Blaine) Trivette of Trade, TN, and Donna (Ronnie) Cooper of Volney, VA; two brothers, Doyle (Sheri) Price of Rutherfordton, NC, and Rick (Kathi) Price of West Jefferson, NC. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, as well as her dear best friend, Sheila Mangrum.
Jean touched the lives of many people throughout her life. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 5:30 pm at Timber Rivers Wedding Venue, with Todd Brewer officiating. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering and celebrating Jean's life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider taking time to visit someone in a nursing home. Charitable donations may be made to Medi Home Hospice, PO Box 421, Jefferson, NC 28640.
