WADESBORO – On Friday, February 7, 2025, Mrs. Shelby Baker Goodwin, 70, passed away peacefully at the home of her sister in Lilesville.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 11, 2025 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Swaringen officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday and other times at the home of her sister, 201 5th Street in Lilesville.
Shelby was born July 9, 1954, in Kannapolis, NC and was a daughter of the late Wilson Hollis Baker and the late Gennie Adams Baker. Shelby worked with the family business for many years, Anson Diner. She was an excellent cook, having learned from her parents and always looked for an time to cook for her family and friends.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her brother and sisters, Tony (Denise) Baker , Angela Beck and Sandra Carpenter all of Wadesboro, Melicia (Leslie) Dennis of Polkton and Peggy Treadaway of Lilesville; her nephews and nieces, Jamie Jones of Wadesboro who Shelby loved like a son, J.C. (Carey) Dennis of Ansonville, Zachary (Kali) Treadaway of Longs, SC, Jeremy (Brittany) Baker of Norwood, Genia (Michael) Treadaway of South Port and Brittany (Josh) Casey of Lilesville and her great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Randy Baker, her nieces and nephew, Autumn Lynn Dennis, Sherry Flinchum and Johnny Tomlin and by her brother-in-law, Robert Bishop Carpenter.
