Shelley Rae Walter passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on December 14, 1954, Shelley lived a life defined by dedication, compassion, and a deep appreciation for the beauty found in everyday moments.
Shelley devoted more than 25 years of her professional career to Herman Miller, her years of service reflected her sense of responsibility and pride in her work, and she was valued by colleagues throughout her career.
In her personal life, Shelley found great joy in nature and in the company of those she loved. She cherished time spent at the beach and in the sunshine, drawing peace and comfort from the outdoors. She took great care in maintaining her flower garden and yard, finding fulfillment in nurturing and tending to them with patience and care.
Shelley was a devoted companion to her beloved dogs, Maddie and Riley, who brought her constant joy and comfort. She also treasured the time spent with friends, particularly gathering together at the park, where she enjoyed conversation, laughter, and the companionship of those closest to her.
Shelley will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, and appreciation for life's simple pleasures. She leaves behind many who will miss her deeply and honor her memory always.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

She was strong and full of love. A fierce protector. There is a lot to say about her. Her and I here as she teaches me how to play her favorite nintendo game. Zelda. I have many memeories of course. But this is a moment thst echoes. This was shortly after meeting her. I was 10 years old.

I worked with Shelley at various times during my career at Herman Miller. Always one to greet you with a smile and a cheerful hello, she had a personality that was genuinely uplifting to those around her. A dedicated worker and a passion for life and happiness is the impression she left with those who knew her. R.I.P. Shelley
