Shelly Katherine Stotz, a cherished soul who graced the lives of many, passed away on July 24, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas, after a brief battle with chronic COPD. She was born on August 17, 1962, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where her journey began and where her passion for cooking and community took root.

Shelly was not only an excellent cook, known for her generous spirit and home-cooked meals, but she also made significant contributions to the food service industry in South Dakota over the years. Later, her career beautifully evolved as she became a residential housing painter at Fort Riley for five years. Alongside her husband Shane R. Stoecker, she co-owned and operated a painting and construction business, showcasing her remarkable work ethic and tenacity.

Shelly's involvement with the American Legion Post #45 was a cornerstone of her life. As the vice-president of the American Legion Auxiliary, she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to serving many veterans and her community. Sundays were especially dear to her heart as she led lively bingo sessions, fostering camaraderie and joy among friends and family.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Shelly's compassion shone brightly during challenging times, notably when she distributed her own delicious cooking to neighbors in need during the COVID pandemic. Her hard work and reliability were hallmarks of her character, always underpinned by her fun-loving and sometimes stubborn nature.

She leaves behind her loving husband Shane, who regarded her not only as a partner but as his best friend. Their "man's best friend",  Yorkshire Terrier, fondly named "45", will miss her greatly as well. Her beloved son, Joshua Keller, and step-daughter, Samantha Stoecker, along with her six cherished grandchildren, will forever hold dear the memories of her warmth and kindness. Shelly is also survived by her sisters, Debbie Medalsted and Kim Berg, who will miss her dearly.

Shelly was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Stotz and Carol (Stotz) Loebs, her step-father, Tom Berg, and her brother, Michael Loebs. Each of these losses surely shaped her outlook on life, instilling in her an unwavering strength that she exemplified daily.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on August 17, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the American Legion Post #45 located at 201 East 4th Street, Junction City, Kansas. Friends and family are invited to reminisce, share stories, and celebrate the impactful life that Shelly lived.

Shelly Katherine Stotz will be remembered not only for her contributions and talents but for the love and laughter she spread to all whose lives she touched. Her spirit and generosity will continue to inspire those who knew her, as they carry her memory in their hearts forever.

Memorial contributions can be made to the family to assist with memorial service expenses.
