Shelton Darnell Brown

1978 - 2023

Shelton Darnell Brown, affectionately known as "Nip", departed this earth on July 9, 2023, at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, VA. Shelton was born on March 3, 1978, to Sharon D. Brown and the late Herman Jenkins, Jr.
He grew up and enjoyed living in Culpeper, VA throughout his life. He attended Culpeper County Schools and was a faithful member of Immanuel Christian Ministry where he served as a Trustee.
Shelton leaves behind his cherished son, Taiveon Ozell Brown; his mother, Sharon Wise (Earl); one sister, Sharonda M. Brown, two brothers, Jay Jenkins (Letitia) and Earl Tyler; his forever love, Colby Lawson; grandparents, Wesley and Catherine Drumgoole; and grandmother, Clara Jenkins; nephews, Jayden Brown, Jayvon Brown, and Dontae Jenkins; nieces, Trinity and Destiny Jenkins; great nephew, Kyzer Long; aunts, Shelia Brinkley, Kimberly Drumgoole, Patricia Washington, Elsie Brown, and Fiesta Jenkins; uncles, Kelly Drumgoole (April), Kasey Drumgoole (Kelli) John Jenkins, III (Gloria), and Ervin Jenkins, Sr.; and a host of godchildren he loved dearly and deeply. His family and friends each held a special place in Shelton's heart and will long continue to celebrate his cherished memory.
Shelton is preceded in death by his father, Herman Jenkins, Jr.; grandfather, Herman Jenkins, Sr.; great grandparents, Lillie and James Newman and Grace and Otis Clark; aunt, Emily Yates; great aunts Mary Lee Lane, Shirley Newman, Grace Newman, Dorothy Newman, and Helen Ford; and great uncles, Charles (Peter) Newman, and Terry Newman.
Shelton was a child of God who loved the Lord and had a heart of gold. He carried that love with him everywhere and would light up any room he entered. He possessed the unique ability to positively impact the lives of others. It was always extremely important to Shelton to make sure his friends and family were never in need. He loved his community and looked for any and every opportunity to give back, without exception. During his childhood, he loved playing baseball and football for the Fighting Bulls and was a huge fan of the San Francisco 49'ers and New York Yankees.
Shelton worked incredibly hard as the owner of Brown's Tree & Landscaping and Home Improvements. Thoroughly enjoying his life, he spent his free time with his family and friends, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, cooking on the grill, fishing, playing cards, gardening, and reading the Bible.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Culpeper Baptist Church, 318 S. West Street, Culpeper, VA. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
Interment will follow immediately after at Fairview Cemetery.
After the service, everyone is invited to Mountain Run Winery, Culpeper, VA to enjoy a time of fellowship, reminiscing and sharing fond recollections of Shelton, remembering his generous spirit, his infectious smile, his quick wit, and the many facets of his remarkable and far-reaching life.
