Sheppard Lamar Martin, 76, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away on September 29, 2025. He was the father of Sheppard "Buddy" Lamar Martin III and Barbara Gail Martin White. Born in Quincy, FL, on September 3, 1949, he was the son of Stanley Nolan Martin and Margaret Brandon Martin. Shep retired after 30 years of service as a civil engineer with the Florida Department of Transportation. Shep had a deep passion for music, playing piano in his free time, and was also an avid photographer, motorcyclist, and shooter. He loved reading and taking long drives, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. He is survived by his son Sheppard "Buddy" Lamar Martin III, his daughter-in-law Carrie Maher Martin, his daughter Barbara Gail Martin White, son-in-law William Ronald White Jr., his grandchildren Casey A. White, Zachary A. White, and Kaylee Martin; his sister Sheryl Martin Roux; nephew Brandon Tedder and his wife Jennifer Selfe Tedder, as well as his niece Lauren Swift and her husband Jon Swift, and grandniece Ruth Aisling Swift. Shep was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Nolan Martin and Margaret Brandon Martin. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Rd., Tallahassee, FL 32303. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice Dayne Parker of Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193 or www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the Martin family with their arrangements.
