Sheri Buchanan Obituary

Sheri Marie Buchanan

August 1, 1939 - March 22, 2025

Sheri Marie (Anderson) Buchanan, age 85, of Corvallis, OR, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, at her home in the care of her family.

Sheri was born August 1,1939, to Frank Schuessler and Gladys (White) Anderson in Chickasha, OK. She is preceded in death by her birth parents, her stepfather (Robert Anderson), her husband Dr. John L. Buchanan, and her sisters Linda (Anderson) Bounds and Sandy (Anderson) Hallett.

Sheri moved to Eugene, OR at a young age and graduated from South Eugene High School where she was a member of the Latin Club and the Pep Club. During and after high school, Sheri enjoyed snow skiing and making ski trips to the Hoodoo ski area. After high school Sheri worked at US Bank in Eugene. Sheri married Jerry W. Kier and moved to Corvallis, OR, where they raised four sons (Michael Kier, Kevin Kier, Brian Kier, Greg Kier). Sheri married John (Jack) Buchanan in 1982. Jack and Sheri enjoyed a full life with a combined family of 7 children, 21 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Sheri owned and operated an antique business (Finders Keepers) in Corvallis for over 30 years, later moving her business to her home and the Albany Antique Mall. Sheri was actively involved in buying, restoring, refinishing, and selling antiques for over 50 years.

Sheri's life was highlighted by her family and the many gatherings of family and friends at her home. Sheri was a gifted homemaker and decorator and a gathering at her home included a beautifully set table, a delicious homecooked meal, a pie or other dessert, music (usually Charlie Pride, Ray Price or Jazz), a cozy fire in the wood stove during cold months and always cribbage games. Sheri enjoyed making handmade gifts for her family, especially at Christmas. Sheri and Jack enjoyed ball room dancing, music concerts, travel, evening games of cribbage and an annual (30 years) family vacation in Lincoln City, OR, at a beach house affectionately called 'Shipwreck'. Sheri loved to walk in nature and regularly walked the 1.5 mile loop in her neighborhood. Sheri and Jack attended Northwest Hills Community Church.

Sheri is survived by her sister Judy Cole (Jerry), sons Michael (Kathy), Kevin (Tracie), Brian (Heather), Greg (Leslie), stepchildren Catherine (Phil) and James (Jennifer), grandchildren (Josh, John, Ryan, Michael, Michaela, Andrew, Riley, Tyler, Jamie, Tessa, Madeline, Mackenzie, Cheyanne, Jordann, Austin, Ashur, Parker, Millie, Cole, Palina, Caledonia), and 13 great-grandchildren.

MY heart sank when seeing this, and so hard to believe. Sheri was one of the kindness friends, helping her out at "Finder's Keeper's and making "granny rug's" brought a friendship I will alway cherish. Although I'm now 91, I know I have a wonderful friend to show me around. We lost a beautiful soul and love to her family. Doc & Sheri are together again. Barb Crawford (now in Helena Montana
