Sherman L. Brewton Jr.

BREWTON - Pastor Sherman L. Brewton Jr. was born March 18, 1957, in Jacksonville, Fla., to the late Sherman L. Brewton Sr. and Christine Carter. He graduated from Camden County High School in 1975 and later attended Savannah State College.
Pastor Brewton dedicated 15 years of service as an employee of Carolina Skiff in Waycross, Ga. His spiritual journey was marked by a lifelong commitment to ministry. He accepted his call to the ministry on Feb. 10, 2005, and faithfully stepped into the pastoral role Jan. 8, 2022.
Pastor Sherman L. Brewton Jr. was preceded in death by his father, Sherman L. Brewton Sr., and mother, Christine Carter.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Hortense Brewton; sons, Sherman Brewton III and Brandon Brewton (Kasi) of Dickson, Tenn.; grandchildren, Kaylee Brewton, Michael Miller, Malechi Miller, Timothy Miller, Kassidy Miller and Carter Brewton of Dickson, Tenn.; sisters-in-law, Mary Campbell (Jimmy), Jerri Campbell, Ervina (Calvin) Hill, Margarrite (Ronnie) Raysor and Pat Campbell; brothers-in-law, Arthur Banks and Rowland Banks (Maria); and spiritual godparents, pastor and co-pastor, Jimmie Green; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. 
Homegoing services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 522 Lee St. in Blackshear, Ga.
