Sherman Clint Moody, born November 14, 1946, in Blytheville, Arkansas, quietly passed away on his 79th birthday, November 14, 2025, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Lavada Moody of Gosnell, Arkansas, and his sisters, Ruby Evans of Smiths Creek, Michigan and Verlly Mae of Blytheville, Arkansas.
Sherman was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend-known affectionately as Honey, Dad, Grandpa, Papa, and Dad Moody. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him with his warmth, humor, respect for others, and thoughtful presence.
He retired in 2021 after 53 years with Northrop Grumman Aerospace and Defense, where he worked as a dedicated sheet metal specialist. His career began in Detroit, Michigan, where he worked for 12 years before transferring to
Grand Prairie, Texas, where he continued his craft for another 41 years. Sherman took great pride in his work, showing up every day with integrity, commitment, and the same easy humor that made him so cherished at home. He believed in hard work, treating people with respect, and doing things the right way-values that defined his career and his life.
Of all his accomplishments, Sherman found his greatest joy in his family. Whether going out to dinner, sharing stories, or simply sitting together in the same room or on the porch, these were the moments he treasured most. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of home that his family will hold in their hearts forever.
Sherman is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jerelean Moody of
Grand Prairie, Texas; his son and daughter-in-law, Clinton and Jennifer Moody of
Grand Prairie, Texas; his daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Larry Hix of
Grand Prairie, Texas; and his adored grandchildren, Dixie and Weston Moody of
Grand Prairie, Texas; Lindsey and Amine Lechhab of Queens, New York; and Ryan and Amberly Hix of Quinlan, Texas. He is also survived by his beautiful sisters, Pat Massingill of Jonesboro, Texas, and Chris Lynch of Rochester, New York. Each of them carries forward his legacy of kindness, strength and unwavering love.
Sherman's life was a testament to loyalty, humility, and devotion. Those who knew him will forever remember his steady presence, his laughter, and the quiet way he made life better for everyone around him. His family finds comfort in knowing he is at peace, and his love will continue to guide them always.
Where a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of memories that will never fade.
He found his peace in simple moments -
a porch light glowing
a story shared
family gathered close
Though his chair now sits quiet
his love still fills the room
steady as the life he lived and eternal as the legacy he leaves behind
