Sherrill Kay Adamcik
It is with deep sadness, but yet with great joy to announce wife, mother, grandmother, Sherrill Kay Adamcik age 77 has shed her ailing human body and passed onto new life with Christ Jesus on November 2, 2025, with her family by her side.
Sherrill was born on March 11, 1948, to David and Mary (Shrock) Brubaker in Midland, Michigan. On September 3, 1966, she married Larry Adamcik and had enjoyed 59 years of a wonderful marriage. They met while roller skating when Sherrill was almost 16 and were pleasantly surprised their parents knew each other.
Sherrill worked in the Psychology Department as a secretary at Michigan State University as Larry worked on his master's degree. Later after having children Sherrill enjoyed caring and nurturing as a nanny and a babysitter for many families, such as the Soehnels, Maughons, Vosepjkas, Hepinstalls, Hahns, and the Hendersons.
Sherrill was happiest when surrounded by family, friends, and of course especially her dogs. Her spiritual gift was hosting gatherings for every occasion where she would take pleasure in baking and cooking old favorites and newly found recipes. She is known as the "Cookie Lady" to neighbors' grandchildren. Sherrill faithfully prepared meals and desserts for St. Brigid's funerals. At the Adamcik family Christmas celebration she masterly prepared 20 Nut Rolls (Slovak Potica), which she learned from her mother-in-law who treated her like a daughter. When raising youngsters, she looked forward to her Wednesday night off to play volleyball. She was the ultimate fan for her kids and grandkids at sporting events. Sherrill was a softball coach for each of her three daughters. Sherrill grew up with a love of reading books, which continued throughout her life. Her mother often hollered, "Get your nose out of that book and come talk to me!"
Left to cherish Sherrill's beautiful life include her one and only loving husband Larry, one son Jeffrey (Jennifer) of Midland, and three daughters Lori (Eliel) of Wisconsin, Debra of Midland, and Pamela (Volley) of Cook Islands; as well as seven (8) grandchildren Noah and Skyeler Adamcik, Rachel, Joshua, and Rebecca Tangiataua, Lorelle, Eliel Joseph, and Adam RojasAdamcik. Sherrill is survived by brother David Brubaker and Pletcher and Hunt cousins as well as her beloved extended Brubaker and Adamcik family. In addition to her parents Sherrill was predeceased by her sister, Jacqueline Gates, and her brother, James Brubaker.
