Sherrill Lou Pore

May 20, 1948 – October 24, 2025

Sherrill Lou Pore finally stopped watching every western rerun and cat napping her days away on October 24, 2025. At 77, we credit her longevity to bad genes, pure stubbornness, and the daily consumption of at least one pastry.

Born in 1948, Sherrill spent her life perfecting two arts: collecting everything and tolerating almost nothing. After the age of 40, she developed a principled disdain for men-a stance she maintained with the occasional well-placed eye roll. In her later years, she once redirected her passions toward cheeseballs-those neon orange spheres of joy that briefly became her entire personality in 2024.

Sherrill was a master of gift-giving in bulk. Mention you liked something once, and you'd receive four versions of it-none quite right, but each chosen with chaotic love and unshakable enthusiasm. Her approach to nutrition was equally inventive: she declared herself allergic to anything that was green, had seeds and wasn't a pastry, chip, or cookie, and lived blissfully under those self-imposed restrictions for decades.

She leaves behind family who adored her some of the time, a pantry full of expired crackers she refused to throw away, and at least three osculating fans that never worked but were "too nice to toss." Her legacy is one of laughter, snacks, and the firm belief that rules are for other people – her hoarding will be honored by her youngest granddaughter for years to come.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Sherrill's memory by buying something you don't need, keeping it forever, and eating something soft & gooey while doing so.

Sherrill is survived by her two daughters: Monica Staska of Texas, and Tracey Henry (Doug) of Kansas. Her memory lives on through her four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Sue, and many nieces & nephews.

Sherrill was preceded in death by her beloved son, Kenny Schrum; her parents, Wayne Clark and Lois Melgren; and her siblings Steve, Scott, and Sandy.
