Sherry Benbow Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Blaylock Funeral Home on Feb. 10, 2026.
Sherry Ann Benbow, 90, went home to be with the Lord on February 8, 2026. She was born on July 19, 1935, in Lubbock, Texas to Tom and Zaida (Waggoner) Verner.

Sherry was a devoted wife, mother, and Nonna. She married Gerald Benbow on July 29, 1962. Together, they raised their two sons, Tom and Jeff, in Brownwood, Texas. She worked as an executive secretary at First National Bank and the Brownwood Bulletin.

Her family was the center of her life, and she loved them deeply. Sherry had a special gift for sewing and quilting, and she poured her heart into every stitch. Many of her creations became treasured keepsakes for those she loved. When she couldn't quilt any longer, she picked up the hobby of coloring books. Her hands have always been busy caring for others, creating beautiful quilts to cover those she cared for, and coloring stunning nature scenes for all to enjoy.

Preceded in death by her parents, Thomas M. Verner and Zaida Waggoner Verner.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald, sons Tom Benbow and wife, Laura, of Wise County, TX; Jeff Benbow and wife, Cindy, of Monahans, TX; grandchildren Amy, Kalee, Amanda, Daniel, Kacee, Holleigh and Hannah; and great grandchildren; Madisyn, Marleigh, Aubree, Kayson, Bella, Xander, Grayson, Ripley and Savannah.

Services are private.

Arrangements are entrusted to Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
