Sherry Ann Kimmet, 80, of Simi Valley, California, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at Adventist Hospital in Simi Valley. She was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend.
Sherry was born on January 22, 1945, at San Diego North Island Family Hospital to Max Besserman and Mildred Woxell. After graduating from high school, she earned her certification as a Psychiatric Technician and devoted over 25 years to mental health care. She worked at Camarillo State Mental Hospital and Las Posadas in Camarillo, where she later retired. Sherry remained a passionate advocate for individuals facing mental health challenges, continuing her support even after retirement.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Richard Kimmet of Simi Valley; her daughter, Theresa Kimmet Riley; son-in-law, Larry Riley; and her cherished grandson, Kaden—affectionately known as “KK,” of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by her nephews, Michael and Douglas Noel of San Diego. She was preceded in death by her sister, Cathie Noel, also of San Diego.
Sherry had a deep love for flower arranging, sewing, and serving her church community. She was actively involved at Saint Peter Claver Catholic Church as a Prayer Co-Coordinator, Usher, Greeter, and Children's Liturgy leader. She also started a women’s Bible study group, Walking With Purpose. Sherry was known for her warmth, hospitality, and exceptional cooking—especially during family Christmas celebrations. She had a playful spirit and was a fan of Batman and Spider-Man movies.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandson Kaden “KK”. She loved traveling to Denver to be with him, sharing laughter, music, and skinny margaritas with her daughter and friends. Sherry’s vibrant presence and generous heart touched everyone she met. She was truly a gift from God and will live on in our hearts forever.
