Sherry Marie Powdrell was born May 25, 1950, to Bobbie and Dearphane Hollins-Green in Midland, Texas. We were married on September 19,1970 in Midland, Texas. Over the past thirty years, she was a member of God’s House Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico. When you thought of Sherry one of the first things you always welcomed was her kind and loving smile. She enjoyed crocheting and reading her Bible. As a very effective and competent administrative person, she held various positions over the years, including administrative assistance to the Vice President of Exxon Chemical in Houston, Texas.

Sherry had multiple talents and hobbies. She was blessed with the talent of being one of the best pound cake bakers in the city. In addition, no one could beat her hot water cornbread. As my wife and the mother of our three daughters, Tishia who preceded her mother in death, Holly, and Kristen. Sherry ensured that our family and household were always her priority. She had one major enjoyment, that she treasured, and that was spending hours shopping for the latest fashion in clothing and jewelry, as she took great pride in her physical appearance.

The one thing that Sherry enjoyed more than shopping was dancing, at any time any place. She always insisted on being first on the dance floor. Sherry would dance song after song, and I would often have to pull her off the dance floor.

As her primary and only caregiver, it was indeed a challenge for me to provide her continuous healthcare, which she required around the clock. As her loving husband, I was persistent in providing the best possible care.

Sherry, besides being a great wife and mother, she was my best friend and biggest supporter, throughout our fifty-three years of marriage. During her illness over the past eight years with Dementia, and in her final days, with a big smile on her face, she found strength to continuously say to me “I LOVE YOU”.

Sherry today leaves to cherish two daughters, Holly and Kristen, grandsons Sage 19, Shane 17, Kayden 9, and Theron Campbell 8. In addition to a host of nieces and nephews.
