Sheryl M. Cortez

The funeral service for Sheryl M. Cortez, 68, of Aberdeen, SD, will be 2:00pm, Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, with Pastor Micah Westby officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Cemetery. Sheryl died Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Avera St. Luke's in Aberdeen.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street.

Sheryl M. White was born to Donald and Bonnie (Allison) White on October 16, 1957, at The Baptist Hospital in Pheonix, AZ. She grew up and attended school in Glendale, AZ.

On October 25, 2008, Sheryl married Paul Cortez in Flagstaff, AZ. They made their home in Flagstaff, AZ, Cordes Lakes, AZ, and finally, Aberdeen, SD. Together, they enjoyed a lot of outdoor activities including camping, fishing, and bike riding.

Sheryl made a career as a veterinary technician. She loved animals, especially horses, and often rode horses when she was younger. In her later years she enjoyed playing Bingo with her husband, sister, Candy Cruse, and brother-in-law, David Cruse, watching TV and spending time with her family. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sheryl was a loving person and her kind, giving, and generous nature will be missed.

Grateful for having shared Sheryl's life are her husband, Paul Cortez; children: Daysha Lilly, Ryan Cortez, Christopher Cortez, and Jacob Cortez; brother, Donnie White; sisters, Linda Barnes and Tanya Holt; sister and brother -in-law Candy and David Cruse; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Sheryl in death are her parents Donald and Bonnie White.
