Shirley Ann Beachum, 84, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully, Thursday, February 2, 2023 at home.

Shirley was born February 28, 1938 in West Virginia to the late Thomas James Houston and the late Ethel Houston.
She was also preceded in death by husband, Grover Devane Beachum; son, Thomas Akers; daughter, Melissa Bowen; and daughter, Linda Charlene Burnette.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Gold Hill, officiated by Rev. Tony Parsons. Burial will follow at Norview Gardens at 949 Pee Dee Avenue, Norwood.

Shirley was a wonderful wife and mother. She was very kind hearted and caring, often considering other's needs before her own.  She loved spending time in her flower gardens and setting up bird and squirrel feeders. Shirley also enjoyed going to the mountains, the beach, and just being outdoors in general. But her most favorite pastimes were spent with her children and grandchildren whom she loved dearly and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include daughter, Peggy Fury of Winston Salem, NC; son, Aaron Kelly Akers of Albemarle, NC; daughter, Ethel Darlene Hines of Albemarle, NC; daughter, Frankie Reed of Albemarle; and daughter, Stephanie Blalock of Richfield, NC.
