Shirley Borcsane Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 17, 2026.
Shirley Ann Borcsane, of Madison Heights, Michigan, passed away on February 17, 2026 at the age of 90. Shirley was born on December 13, 1935 to Clarence and Mary Sherwood in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Southwestern High School, where she received multiple awards for being the fastest typist in the school. After graduation, she held various secretarial roles, from serving the Detroit Police Department, to working with the IRS. She gathered information for wanted ads for the Detroit News and she also sold fur coats at Hudson's. Shirley's most accomplished work was done at home, proudly as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Shirley dearly enjoyed traveling the United States with her late husband, Charles Sr. After retirement, they made Clearwater, Florida their home for 7 years before returning to Michigan. Shirley also enjoyed the thrill of the casino. Whether Shirley was cooking for her family at home, or finding something new to try at a restaurant, Shirley enjoyed food. Most of all, she deeply treasured family time. Whether that was with her husband and children, or with her sisters, Judy and Donna, family came first to her. She will be dearly missed.

Shirley is the cherished wife of the late Charles Borcsane Sr.; the loving mother of Cindy (Rick) Toppin and Chuck Jr. (Liza) Borcsane; the adored grandmother of Kyle (Lisa) Mackillop, Nathan (Sabrina) Mackillop, Chase Borcsane, and Logan Borcsane; the dear great-grandmother of Ben, Amelia, Duncan, and Rhett; and the beloved sister of Judy (the late Frank) Agazio, Donna (the late Frank) Tafelski, the late Jerry (the late Julie) Sherwood. Shirley is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life is being planned for the summer of 2026. The obituary will be updated once the information is finalized. Arrangements entrusted to Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home. Please share a story or leave a tribute at www.SullivanFuneralDirectors.com
