Shirley Marie Ceasar

Shirley Marie Ceasar, 84, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont, TX.

Services are Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at Our Mother of Mercy Sarah St. Beaumont, TX. Visitation will begin at 8AM until Funeral 10AM. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery Beaumont, TX.

She was born on December 25, 1940, and was a lifelong resident of Beaumont. Shirley attended Hebert High School and studied at the historic Hotel Dieu to take a job as a nurse's aide at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Shirley would be known in the community as their local Avon lady and proudly sold products from the company for decades. A breast cancer survivor, Shirley was a woman of limitless love who shared tirelessly, even when she had little herself. She would tell you her most important titles were mother and cheerleader for her four boys and husband, Percy Ceasar, who preceded her in death after 33 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by son Joseph Trent Hughes; ex-husband J.C. Hughes, Sr.; father Irvin August; Mother Hazel Stewart; sister Leandra "Baby Lee" Ceasar; brothers Irvin August, Jr., Jimmy Guillory and Ronnie Stewart.

She is survived by sisters Debra Prater, of Beaumont, Texas; and Jackie Davis, of Houston, Texas; sons Joseph Clyde Hughes, Jr. (Meredith), of Atlantic City, N.J., Gregory Hughes (Wanya), of Houston, Texas; and Gordon Hughes (Patricia), of Beaumont, Texas; stepchildren Sylvia Ceasar, of Port Arthur, Texas, Amanda Ceasar, of Port Arthur, Texas; Sharon Ceasar-Figures (Charles), of Houston, Texas; Alice Sanders-Adams, of Port Arthur, Texas, Kenneth Ceasar (DeWanna), of Port Arthur, Texas, Joseph Paul Ceasar, of Port Arthur, Texas, and Janet Ceasar, of Houston, Texas; 32 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral Services will be held at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, 3390 Sarah Street, in Beaumont, Texas, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 22. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. with a Rosary at 9:15 a.m. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery and a Repast at Our Mother of Mercy Hall.
