Shirley Dennis

Shirley Dennis, 88, of Crawfordville, FL was transferred from her earthly dwelling to her heavenly peace on November 8, 2025. Shirley fought the good fight through the deterioration of Dementia. She was born in Minnesota as one of 5 siblings. Before locating to Florida, she married the one who adored her above all else until his death, Stanley, of 67 years. Shirley was the loving and nurturing mother to her son, Brian (Barbara) and daughter, Kathy (Gary). She will be remembered by 2 siblings (Gordy and Muriel), 4 grandchildren (Nikki, Eric, Spencer and Jarret) and 10 great-grandchildren. She was a dedicated employee with the Florida State D.O.T, skilled in shorthand and an accomplished typist.
Shirley pioneered her own way in developing skills to enrich the life of her family. If her husband killed it, she cooked it. If it was edible, she gave a shot at growing it within her own Garden of Eden. She learned to plant, harvest, cook and can, and explore the tastes of the south. She enjoyed sewing decorative pillows, crocheting kitchen towels and hot pads, flipping through magazines for new recipes and reading in the evening.
Shirley's kitchen was the heart of the home where she expressed her love through cooking and baking. During the holidays the family looked forward to being the guinea pigs for that one recipe she was testing to see if it was a "keeper!"
Her precious smile and generous heart will truly leave a void, leaving this world with a longing for more women like "Shirley."
The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers they would like donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for her love for children, or Lake Ellen Baptist Church for their continuing work within the community.
Funeral Service will be Friday, November 14, 2025, 11:00 am at Lake Ellen Baptist Church and burial will follow at the church cemetery.
