Shirley Dudley, age 92, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the Lodge at Fairway Forest (the Lodge) in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A private visitation was held on Monday, February 5, 2024 at English Funeral Chapel. Ashes will be scattered at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California at a later date. Shirley Jean Dudley was born on October 30, 1931, to LeRoy and Othella Louise “Peggy” (nee Conklin) Morgan in Lincoln, Nebraska. Shirley grew up in Lynwood, California and graduated from Lynwood High School in 1949. She attended Compton City College until marriage, and two children were born to the union. Shirley later enjoyed a 20 year career at American Savings and Loan in Fullerton, California and retired in 1995. After spending nearly her entire life in California, Shirley joined her son, Dennis, and family in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, the last year of her life. She found tremendous joy in the Inland Northwest and enjoyed frequent visits from her family and their Labrador, Saoirse. Shirley is survived by her brother, Ronald (Jan) Morgan of Torrance, California; children: Debra (Gary) MacDonald of Woodinville, Washington, and Dennis (Maureen) Dudley of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; grandchildren: Lorna (John) Croswell, of Sammamish, Washington, Kyle (Jamie) MacDonald of Newark, Delaware, Alexis Dudley of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Shannon Dudley of Boise, Idaho; great grandchildren: Mackenzie and Christian Croswell and Jacob and Miles MacDonald; and several nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents. Shirley, (and family), wished to thank the unbelievably kind and compassionate caregivers at the Lodge, as well as the team at Hospice of North Idaho.
